Verenike--a Russian-Mennonite food. It's a pastry filled with a dry curd cheese (like Ricotta), then boiled or fried (I like it fried) and eaten with a Mennonite sausage/onion gravy (the sausage isn't as spicy as most). A lot of people think it sounds gross, but it's AMAZING. The Russians also make it with mashed potatoes instead of cheese.
