i want use the servce pack two of the first copy and delete that windows xp. how would i do this? the original copy gave me blue screen of death so i just reinstalled another copy onto the computer

you can't have two copies of windows xp on the same computer, it tells you that when your installing it..... the second install will have wrote over the top of the first version unless you told it to make another directory.. first version will not be seen so you can not boot from it

go to my computer C: drive ... open C: ... at the top of the page go to tools folder options view ... show protected operating system files ... rightclick ur boot.ini file and unchek read only ... now open it and edit out the xp you dont want .... SAVE a copy of ur boot.ini to the desktop or somthing incase u edit out the wrong one .. now just save/close it ... chek back read only and rehide the files ..... delete the folders to the other operating system ... done

you need to remove this from boot.ini, you can do this by clicking on my computer, then clicking propeties, click on the advanced tab, then in startup and recovery click on settings, click on edit button and then remove the one that is crashing, when u boot does it crash on the first one if u select that one, then remove it :) U just accidently installed XP 2 times :/
