Good: Huge selection. Almost all the newest applications, music, movies....you name it and there is probably a torrent for it. It's all free of charge. Bit torrent clients are free as are the files.

Bad: Legality. Most of the above are considered stolen in legal circles, there are some free apps and such on torrents though only God knows why. You can be prosecuted for having any of the above if you didn't pay for it. You dint use torrents to buy anything so it's probably illegal. The common name is Piracy. Another bad thing is download time. It varies from torrent to torrent depending on the amount of Peers (peeps DLing the file) and their as well as you internet connection. Your ISP can also cancel your account for using P2P apps.

Here's an example: A 'friend' was watching Star Wars Episode 3 2 days after it was out of theaters. This was an actual DVD rip, not a cam. Free. Not $20 or whatever it costs at the retailer. IF he had been caught, he could have been locked up for video piracy and sued by the movie industry. His ISP could have canned his account. Definitely not good.
It doesn't happen to often, but it does happen. If you try it out, get utorrent and peerguardian2. Go to thepiratebay.org or torrentspy.com and look up a torrent and give it a go.
