Leon Trotsky was a Bolshevik revolutionary and Marxist who contributed much to the rise of Communism in Russia. He sided with Lenin when the Bolsheviks assumed power. He was influential in the first days of the Soviet Union as the Commander of the Red Army but was expelled from the Coomunist party due to a power struggle with Joseph Stalin. He was assassinated in Mexico by a Russian agent.
