They are the same thing... people who use Xmas are NOT agianst Christ... X is the Greek symbol standing for Christ
Christmas is sometimes shortened to Xmas, an abbreviation that has a long history.[4] In early Greek versions of the New Testament, the letter Χ (chi), is the first letter of Christ (Χριστός).

Back in the day your could die for being Christian. The "x" (the cross) was the Greek symbol for Christ. Drawing this symbol was a way to identify other Christians.

Apart from the different spelling there is no difference. Both mean the same.

Christmas is the full spelling.
X'mas is used for people that don't want to spell out the whole word.

X stands for Christ. Some do not want to say Christ and say Xmas. Some just say Xmas because it is shorter.

fairly, both are meant to be a similar, yet i fairly dislike seeing xmas. Christ is who we are celebrating, and that i imagine His call must be left intact, if for no different reason than appreciate and reverence to Him (Jesus Christ). i do not opt to work out His call "X-ed" out.

They are spelled differently. Incidentally there shouldn't be an apostrophe in Xmas.
