I hope that you can help me find some information on electric/gas assist bicycles.
I have bought an AeroRider, and it should be here soon. An AeroRider is a velomobile with an 500W electric assist. It has lights and signals and of course pedals. Capable of speeds of 20 mph.
I will be adding a 49cc motor with a CVT transmission to further the distance that can be traveled at speeds of 20mph. - getting GREAT gas mileage.
Due to the great aerodynamics of the velomobile, under pedal power the speed traveled can exceed the capability of the electric motor and engine.
I have tried to read some of WI state laws covering bicycles and low speed electric bicycles. But, this is a unique case. I would like to ride in Milwaukee's Critical Mass rides, but I want to be informed and documented before I ride.
My problem is - what type of vehicle is it? Moped? A bicycle? A motor-bicycle?
What laws govern a bicycle that is electric, gas, pedal powered?
What about lic and registration?
