This is how I see the whole picture.
In the beginning, male worship female. This can be seen in most animal kingdom hierachy, because female are the only who reproduce, and avoid the species from extinction. The only thing that makes us different from other animals is that human has the ability to think, and create a solution.
As all mammals are lazy, human decided not to work their *** off just to feed those who dont work at all. This created a system which we believe as a "fair" society where you have to earn what u want. That's how most male are more dominant in workplace/home.
But consider if we are moving towards the future, where human do not want to compromise AT ALL, and only wanna share with those that contribute to the same principal/lifestyle/ amount of work/ and ability, I think it's natural for man to choose another man, woman to choose another woman. Until the species is almost extinct, then we go back to square one again.
What do you guys think?

To the first poster, please see this in it's big picture instead, instead of being one angry sensitive woman. I'm not a gay. I'm not here to argue when and where homosexualties started to exist.
I see female is being "worshipped" because I see ants hierachy where the queen ant is being served thousands of male soldiers . I'm sure at that point of time, there are gay ants too hehe, outcasted but still part of the network.
It's just that I see more and more of homosexuals are coming out openly and I'm wondering if this is how the cycle works.
Maybe I'm wrong so please enlighten me with educational answers.
Flames only makes you ignored.

I'm gay and I dont get this why it gets so distorted. Bisexuality was the norm in ancient times. Look at Caligula, nero and many other people including other cultures. The older gent would marry a woman and have a younger male in his life to teach him things about like and also have sex with him. Gay lifestyle as well as het lifestyle existed too of course. I just think that a patriarchial society/mentality is what's keeping peopel from freedom of sexual expression which is repressed via current biblical(and other books) text literal misinterpretations.
Once the restrictions/repressions are lifted the world will be a much better place.
I was born catholic and raised born again christian and am now pagan.
I think society as a whole just thinks that by having these restrictions is just so they have a moral code to live by so the world doesnt go crazy out of control and is a biproduct of social insecurities and whats ingrained into everyones head from churches and other organizations and a form of control.
If we learn that God/god or whatever higher being created us with free will to pick and choose whats right and wrong without having a ruler to measure morality and LET GO of past insecurities this world would be better.
In the end I still think that sexual preference will remain the same but people will make wiser/finer choices as to who they want to be with and why they will need to reproduce or not.
The only way we will cause humans to be extinct is either by war/pollution extinction or some major catastrophe (huge meteor hit for example) but not by non reproduction.
Hope im making some sense.

NO. Homosexuality is not some new thing we have evolved into! Homosexuals have been around since the BEGINNING of time. And yes, there are many humans and animals who are born homosexual and it's a natural thing. Not all beings pair up for the purpose of procreation! One last thing - homosexuality is not an illness, defect or something to work on. You probably didn't know any of this because information like this is concealed in BOOKS. (People who agree with this question need to educate themselves - like 'Free_Spirit' on here who doesn't know crap from Crisco about this!)

For some reason I agree..I mean in chimpanzee's its already proven they have it going on..and yes I agree about how in the animal kindom they do flutter their peacock feathers to impress a female species..wether it be dolphins, frogs, snakes, birds, even fish..it always falls on the males doing a pissing contest to get the girl..its already seen now many of the males are not being chosen because too many of the weak not alpha males are surviving..so why breed with a weak pathetic male..no matter what cologne or what plastic sugeon u use it all boils down to the animal instincts in all of us..women can smell their potential mates..its just that nowadays other women are becoming more manly in many ways that alot of str8 or bi women are falling for the very traits they would of found attractive in a man..only now its a woman who seems to carry those very traits..so who knows maybe it is a way of evolution to control population..a scary thought but very intriguing..

Why do people always reduce complex subjects in to false dichotomies and simplistic explanations. Homosexuality like human sexuality is very complex, and occurs in a wide variety of species, don't believe me, then read BIOLOGICAL EXUBERANCE: Homosexuality in the animal kingdom by Bruce Baghmiel.
YES! Homosexuality is part of evolution just as parthenogenisis is. Human sexuality is fluidic (especially homosexuality), I think that the evolutionary basis (This is wholly my opinion and I'm not an expert), has something to do with our being social animals with habits and is innate.
Most importantly if we were all alpha males (or alpha females) rampaging around the place with our big sledge hammers and beatting our chest for attention (OOOH, look at me) then there would not be much of the human species, we'd all be dead, killing each other off. SEX is the compromise, the release, before religion took over that allowed us to coexist with each other.
A prime example of this can be found in Jane Goodall's studies of chimpanzees, specifically bonobos chimpanzees. They are the only species of primates, if they are not eating or sleeping have sex 90% of the time and they use sex to solve most of thier conflicts.

..... I think you should just let it be. Looking at it from a purely scientific viewpoint and omitting human emotion and feelings is incorrect. "We're all here to reproduce and keep our species going."
...
Riiiight. Because the only reason people screw is to pop out kids. *rolls eyes* HA!
By the way, it's not as if humans are facing extinction any time soon. It's not as if the LGBT cannot have children... if anything, we'd be happier with more room and population control.
And of course it's "unavoidable." It's been here forever! We are born with sexuality, not necessarily heterosexuality. Whoever said that was very smart...

Homosexuality has been present in humans since recorded history (and logically before then). Likewise, homosexuality can be seen in nature even today.
A growing body of evidence has indicated that sexuality (including homosexuality, of course) is encoded in our genes. Because of this, homosexuality is not so much nurture as it is nature.
Please note that there is no (unbiased and concrete) evidence that humans are alone in their ability to think. Plus, many animals have been shown to problem solve in both nature and the lab--humans are not alone in being able to create solutions to problems.

the slow removal of stupidity. We are the next level. 6 fingers and 6 toes are dominant genes. most human have 5. thats evolution. But it will probably be some internal mod that will allow us to deal with pollution or disease better.(like sickle cell anemia counters malaria). until we are forced to evolve rapidly by consistantly entering a new enviroment for multple generations, we wont see it. Then again it might be an external human force that will cause us to evolve. like the introduction of biomechanical machines that integrate with our bodies and minds. think Borg

I don't think it is another step in evolution, I think homosexuality has always existed. It is seen even in nature, I have stated before that I think it is just a variance (like there are different colors of flowers). I think there are more sinister problems that threaten the existence of mankind (global warming, overpopulation, war, etc)
EDIT: there is homosexuality noted in many animal species, particularly primates. It has also been noted in bovines, and dogs)

I agree, it's becoming a more popular because of similar interests and it's also easier to relate to the same sex. I don't think it'll come to as far a point of the human race being nearly extinct, i'm sure it'll come in moderation.

being gay wont make the human race extinct or even thin it out. (the Darwin awards can take care of that)
I think that if people want to be gay then why should other people give a sh!t?
I think being gay is a preference. Not a choice, and not being born that way. Kind of like music. You don't choose to like a certain kind of music, but it can change with time.
Also, people say it's "not natural" neither is plastic surgey, but no one cares about fake boobs! or pretty faces
