Why are all computer dealers following Microsoft's urge to not supply any OS-free computer?

If you buy one on ebay, alot of them sell computers that the hard drive has been wiped to prevent any personal information from the last person being brought back up. I use a program that the DOD uses to wipe a hard drive before I sell it on ebay, but I do format the drive so that you can install the os of your choice.

I've seen a few online with walmart.. prices started out around 250 and up... they come with 40 gig hard drive a cd-rw.. plus microcenter online have barebone pc... they are alittle more costly but more high power pc's...

an os-free computer promotes downloading a pirated copy prolly ... just build it urself if ur savvy enough to install windows and drivers ...
