i've had jobs that if you were 1 minute late you would get a warning. break and lunch were down to the second. i felt that i was being watch at all times. yet this was a minimum wage job. now that i make alot more those things don't really matter as long as you don't abuse it.

My boss is pretty lenient. If you're a few minutes late from a break, he usually lets it slide - unless you do it all the time. Then he takes 15 minutes from your pay. (Good thing I'm never late.) I work in a pet store so we really need people out helping people all the time. If you spend a long time in the bathroom, it's not a big deal unless we're very busy. I guess it really depends on the boss though.

mostly a min wage job is for younger people and you let them slide a little they just keep on sliding. It also depends on how many worked there. letting one or two do it may be ok but an office of 100, it really adds up. 100 people wasting 5 minutes a week is losing 8 hours every week

I had a boss who actually stood outside the restroom with a stop watch. I told him once if he'd like, I could take a pic with my cell phone so he could actually SEE what I was doing in there. I now have a great boss who is really easy going!

If they are paying for you lunch breaks then they can be strict. But i dont that is should be that strict. Go for an easy going job.

Yes, it seems that the lower paid you are the worse you are treated regardless of the quality of your work, your endless contributions and sacrifices. Anyone in that position should be searching for something better. These kinds of employers only hurt themselves by their own insanity and micromanagement tactics.
