My science teacher (not a bio teacher, but a chemistry teacher) told us that blood was an organ. I know that skin is an organ, and he was saying that if skin is an organ, then blood is, or something like that. I looked online, and I cannot find anything that says that blood is an organ. Does anyone know for sure?

Blood is considered to be a tissue.

An organ, by definition, is composed of multiple tissues. Within the skin there are several tissues- epidermis, dermis, subcutaneous tissue, hair/nails, and glands as well as the associated blood vessels and nerves.

Blood, on the other hand, while having multiple formed elements (erythrocytes, neutrophils, platelets, leukocytes, etc...) is a single tissue, and does not fit the definition of an organ.

Blood is a fluid, a circulating tissue, plasma and cells, liquid...

I didn't think that blood is an organ, BUT an 'organ' is defined as a group of tissues in a living organism that has a certain function. And this definition is true of 'blood'.

Either way can be argued!

I am both. I regularly donate blood and i'm a registered organ donor. And importantly, my immediate family know of my wish to donate my organs if needed. Last time i donated blood was an unpleasant experience. Not because of the needle or anything, the nurses were rude b!tches. I'm considering not doing it anymore.

An organ has a group of tissues with same structure and function, so blood has different types of cells and also differ in their functions therefore blood is not an organ but regarded as the tissue fluid.

Blood is a part of every organ and every system; therefore, it fits the role of connective tissue best.
It connects and supports all parts of our bodies both structurally and chemically.
However, because it is an important part of our immune system and circulatory system and because its
cellular structure and function is uniquely diverse, it is tempting to think of it as an organ.

blood is not an organ. he may have been talking advanced chemist. if spychology were to be an organ than were would the psychologist be? he would be all things inafectfully be contributing to the heart. if an organ is an organ than why would blood be an organ too. because of a = therory of blood can pass the things to make and replace missing pieces of it as if it were to morf right back into but not morf but to multiconductual repair itself in an assumption of it have have something on a cancerous level but have it not be cancer. a teachers guide for dealing with persistant students who always ask questions when they are that close to getting everything they need for the project and finishing but dont know what to do but is being accepted for being so smart would be to treat in comment but not to make it harsh on saying your question asking is making me think you are apart of a cancer in my class. for not taking what you have lkearned forget it and then use the new information he or she has gave you. it is like advanced nouns to insult an individual but not take any of the credit from you in class or your individual self that is liked. but no, blood is not an organ it can be in advanced physics in theory that what is to speak about in your wellly planned page and chemistry class to learn the very beginning credit in 101 physics.
