Ok.. The main difference betweem the two "bundles" is that one has a hard drive and the other doesn't. I will go into slight detail.
Xbox 360 - PRICE $399.99 RETAIL

If you do the math you will come to find out that you are getting a deal. *NOTE* You have to have the HDD to play original Xbox games
Xbox 360 Core System - PRICE $299.99 RETAIL
The Core System Has everything to get you started with the High-Def Era. This package includes: The Xbox 360 Console; the Wired Xbox 360 Controller; Standard AV cables. This package is mainly for people that don't have the money or want to expand at their own pace.
I would suggest getting the Core System. It is cheaper.
*NOTE* The HDD doesn't allow you to play ALL Xbox Games

There are two editions as you stated. There is the "Core edition" which includes one wired controller, and the system. The "Premium edition" comes with one wireless controller and a 20 gb hard drive thats backwards compatible, meaning you can play old Xbox games on it. It also has a different face plate. The hard drive and wireless, if bought seperately from the system are $120, and $50 respectively. It is a better value than the core system.

xbox core has a wired controller thing, and xbox premeium what it is usually called doesnt, and core is cheaper because it has less memory and less features on it, look it up, but usually core is obviously cheaper, but it is better to just wait and get the xbox premium
