Oh, thats always a rule breaker, and so common. You need to weigh the value of your friendship. Tell her that you like him too so that neither of you can have him, then collectively find something to depise about him so you both can move on. If one of you ends up with this cat, the other will be hurt and this could possibly ruin your frienship.
Honesty is the best policy.

I had this problem with my best friend when we were 13 it resulted in us getting in a fist fight which I don't recommend. After all that we made up and agreed nether of us would ever go for a guy we both like or have anything to do with that guy ever again. Friendship is more important and will last longer then any guy. You need to decide what is more important to you and if the possibility of losing your friend for a guy you might not even like in a few months is worth it.

Well, you should confront your friend. Tell her how you feel. If it's not a deep love, and it's just kind of a crush, sleep on it. Think about who you really truly like. If you decide you like this boy for real, then tell your friend about it, but don't get all worked up over it, and DONT cause a fight between you guys, over a guy. Hope I helped, check out my question. <33

Ive been in many situations like this before. Work it out with your friend and see what happens. Maybe you will find another boy u have an eye for. Just wait and see what happens.

One don't let a boy become between you and your friends just ask him which one of you he prefers let him choose and if you kinda like him you need 2 tell her now because if she finds out later it will be worse because she will think u aren't trustworthy

Ok you say that you "kind of" like him but your friends "really" likes him. So its kind of obvious, who is more important to you?

Stay away, too many fish in the sea and not worth the drama! If he pursue's you and he has never shown interest in your friend, then you could talk to your friend honestly and see what she says.

GIRL WHAT YOU NEED TO DO. DONT GO OUT WITH THAT BOY OR ELSE YOU COULD REALLY RUIN YOUR FRIENDSHIP AND I BET YOU DONT WANT THAT TO HAPPEN. FRIENDS ARE WAY MORE IMPORTANT THEN BOYS TRUST ME. BOYS JUST MESS WITH YOU AND DONT REALLY CARE WHAT YOU THINK.YOU SHOULD JUST LET YOUR FRIEND HAVE HIM AND IF THAT DOESNT WORK OUT FOR HER AND SHE DOESNT CARE IF YOU GO OUT WITH HIM THEN GO OUT WITH HIM. BUT THAT IN MY OPINION WOULD BE REALLY STUPID.CUZ TRUST ME IF SHE DIDNT LIKE HIM THEN YOU PROBABLY WONT EITHER. WELL BEST OF LUCK BYE
