Jealously and ingnorance. When you come down to it, there aren't a lot of Jews in the world (percentage wise) and their religion does not promote going out and trying to convert others to Judaism (as is done in Christianity, especially Mormons lately and Islam throughout history). And until recently, they have been easy targets since they haven't been militarily strong (probably why certain people don't like Israel, a large, largely Jewish community that is able to not only defend itself, but project power regionally).
So you have a small community that works hard, keeps to itself for the most part, and uses a common language for it's religious rituals throughout the world. People tend to be jealous and suspicious of that type of community. Even though they aren't doing anything to bother those around them.

I recently saw a show that talked about why the Jewish people have been so persecuted. It explained that because of the gospels out there saying the Jewish people are the chosen ones. Others seek to bring about the end by way of trying to get Jews to start the holy war. Biblical passages and such prophesying to bring about the Apocalypse this is the way.
I wish I remembered what the show was but it explained the insanity of histories hatred toward people just trying to live. What else does religion do but bring about war and stupidity?

Some believe that anti-semitism is a pathological condition of the human race, without any rational cause. Anti-semitism has gone through 3 great historical phases, each with unique social drivers: 1) In the BC ages, Jews were a sovereign people in the land of Israel, which is located at the strategic crossroads between Asia, Africa and Europe. Imperial forces sougth to control the land, and so, had to disperse or conquer the people. This is the history of Jews relationship to Egypt, Assyria, Babylon, Rome and Greece. 2) Starting 2000 years ago, the Jews were dispersed from Israel and scattered across the globe. Simultaneously, a new religion, Christianity emerged. Modern anti-semitism is a product of Christian teaching that the Jews killed Christ, a general resentment of foreign people, and the deeply held belief that Jews form a secret society that somehow manipulates or controls the world. 3) In recent years, a new form of anti-semitism has emerged that is linked to the existence of modern Israel and the Zionist movement.

A lot is theological. Early Christian lraders charged Jews with Deicide & claimed that the Church had replaxed Jews as God's chosen people. Jews were frequently high profile, financially sucessful, politically & militarily weak. That is a bad combo to be.

In my opinion because they killed Jesus Christ. Pilate did not want that. He washed his hands off and said My hands are clean the blood is upon you Jews. Why they killed them ? Because of jealousy. Thats at least what I read in the Bible
