My black friends call my black friend Kapanga, who is African, Night Hike, Blacky, Darkness Falls, Midnight, etc. Is this racist if the people saying it are black? (they say it because they are slightly lighter)

Yes it's racist. But if he's cool with it then it's a'ight. I'm tall 5'10 (I am tall for a 15 yr old girl) and my friends call me Giraffe. It would be an insult if I thought it was offensive, but I call them Midget and Pea Brain so we're cool.

It can be considered inter-cultral racism.
It's a tricky thing. Do they mean this as a nickname or are they meaning to insult your friend?

I call a spade a spade.... if they don't like it they don't have to be around me. If they want to make an issue of it .......so be it. Let the hammer fall.

Racism is thinking one race superior to another. Since they are the same race, it isn't racist. Just rude.

Try to get them to stop. It might hurt his feelings.
