What do you mean by math?

If you mean advanced algebra and calculus, then it doesnt matter. You dont do calculus in accounting.

On the other hand, if you can't do normal arithmetic really easily and add. subtract. multiply and divide accurately and quickly with virtually no mistakes, then why would you want to be an accountant?! Are you seriously suggesting that you want to spend your whole life, all day every day, doing something you are bad at!??

That's a really amazing suggestion!

As a college professor who teaches some accounting and math classes, I can honestly tell you that many students struggle with math.

The KEY here is that math in accounting is nothing like calculus or advanced algebra, but rather more basic math. In other words, it's things like adding, subtracting, multiplying, and dividing.

So if you like accounting, then by all means, major in it! And don't forget that you can always work on improving your math skills by visiting various math websites, using a tutor, or if your school has a learning center, going there.

Are you bad at it because you got lazy and didn't keep up with the work? or are you bad at it because math just isn't your thing?

If you like Accounting and slacked off in some of your Math classes...then get with the program and start studying.

If you are bad at Math because numbers aren't your thing...then think about it....a career in Accounting would be highly stressful and probably unenjoyable for you.

You should def. continue.. Im majoring in accounting also and i failed math once..Just retake it. Remember that accounting is just basic math. The hard part is just organizing information.
