Alright people say that the music I like is EMO Like HelloGoodBye and The Red Jumpsuit apparatus which is ok but what the heck is EMO I thought it stood for emotional .

emo is a lable that people give others that dress in a kind of gothic retro style, that listen to rock [mainly alternative rock though], and how they act. its pretty much a trend thats going on right now. eventually it will go out of style and people will look back on it and say 'uhh why did i ever wear that??' not all people with this lable are depressed or cut themself. thats just some nasty rumar that has been going around for quite awhile. people have concidered me emo, but i concider myself unique. i dont follow trends, i listen to what i like and dress how i want. i dont think anyone should lable others. lables are for soup cans, not people. hope this helps you out just a little bit. and if you take the adivice of one of the people above me; the emo song isnot ver well written. it makes fun of emos and stereotypes them all to be sad and helpless. NOT A VERY GOOD RESORCE!!! and i dont know why she would like you to cheack out jeffrey STAR. hes just an ordinary person with a VERY unique lifestyle. he is a fabulous model and hes also very very diffrent. its just confusing why they would like you to look him up. hes not diffrent from you and me! he just lives life how he wants!
p.s who is jeffrey 'STARS'?????? and NO NO NO he did NOT write that song. adam and andrew did. why would you think jeffrey STAR did??????? seriously. you all need to not be so immature. anyways... whoever said emo stand for people that want to kill themselfs, THATS CALLED SUICIDAL!!!!!!!! NOT EMO. GO BACK TO THE SIXTH GRADE AND STOP TELLING PEOPLE THINGS THAT ARNT EVEN ANYWERE NEAR BEING TRUE!

On a basic level it is any music that you put feeling into. Emotion. Emo-screamo-whatever. Its the type of music that you don't just stand and read the lyrics to and call that a performance. Where people get confused about emo is where it is refered to as a fashion term and then everyone assumes every band that fits the fashion mold is an emo band. Sweaters, long bangs over one eye, etc. does NOT make you an emo band. It makes you a trend follower. The music is suppose to set the mood---not what the band looks like!

okay, listen PLEASE! I cant tell your probably in middle school or something because i use to sound that lame, but first learn to spell, second why would you make that public to get attention? emo is a trend, hurting yourself is not reserved JUST for "emo" people and wearing black has nothing to do with anything. if you hurt yourself and dont want to live, first get help and second obviously it isnt the serious if your talking about it on yahoo answers....god....grow up.

Emo DOES stand for emotional. It can be any emotion. Most teenagers think Emos are cutters/druggies/people-that-wear-all-black-all-the-time-even-in-the-shower.

Emo is a person who usually always sad and cut themselves. There more likely to do suicide. Emo also stands 4 an emotional person also. Emo also stand 4 music that talks about death, killing, pain, sadness and suicide.

Emo is slang for "emotional problems". Somehow it's now cool for children to have emotional problems. And to think just ten years ago psychological issues were taboo!

um ya emo is just short for emotional. Emo music can be soft/ have acoustic guitars. It doesn't have to have screaming and wailing chords....just has to be emotional.
