(1) it's silent: it's because the drain pump has given up the ghost

(2) it struggles, gurglingly: it's because your knickers are in the drain pump.

2 can lead to 1

ps I used to get spares like this from www.keepingupappliances.co.uk (or was it .com?) but now i've gone Bosch so I don't need spares, hee hee

pps simon k is right - bottom front, that panel should pull off or open out to reveal a filter cap. Unscrew it and dig around. Prepare to get wet.

Check that your pump isnt clogged with coins or stuff - It is usually behind a little panel at the bottom of the washer on the left. Just unscrew it an hey presto all the crap will fall out or you may need to use your finger or a knife to remove the bits. REMEMBER TO TURN OFF THE POWER THOUGH :-)

First thing you should do is check the filter, it might be clogged up with fluff. It's usually behind a little flap on the front of the machine somewhere... maybe low down behind a panel that runs around your kitchen.

at the back of the machine, where the outlet pipe is attached, there is a filter. It is probably blocked, just pull it out and clean it. You may need some towels to clean up the water...

CLEAN THE FILTER IF THE MOTOR IS TURNING THE DRUM THEN ITS JUST THE DRAIN PIPE FILTER FROM THE MACHINE BLOCKED. MAY BE AT BOTTOM FRONT,SOME NEW MACHINES DON'T HAVE A FILTER ACCESS CAP.POKE AROUND,THINGS CAN'T GET MUCH WORSE.ASK A FRIENDLY NEIGHBOUR IF POSSIBLE.

so how do you get the washin out? easy, pull out the beny pipe, lower it to the floor and the water will drain out. then unscrew the cap to gain easy access to the pump area and pull out all the matchsticks, hairs and coins that are stoppin the pump from whizzin round. Get yer wellies on.

It might be your drain hose, sometimes if they aren't up high enough or to high up, it will cause the water not to drain.Unless you haven't moved the hose or anything lately. Hope this helps
