we live in queensland and australia and we are thinking baout it but we don't want to get each other in trouble so what are laws for that

You shouldn't think of the laws as much as All the consequences of making such a crucial decision. This isn't like choosing which candy bar you should buy. Once you start or become a non-virgin- you can never go back. Do you want to be another knotch on this kids belt?- because , you will be- no matter what he says- thats what you will ultimately be.

The age of consent in most of Australia is 16 for a female, however you are still considered a minor until you reach the age of 18. This causes many a stir because if your parents find out, they are able to claim that being a minor you were too naieve to be able to make your own decisions and could try pressing charges for unlawful intentions. If you dont want to cause problems, probably best to wait a little bit. 16-23 is a pretty big age gap which would probably cause alot more problems than just the sex one. I dont think I will ever understand a 16 and 23 yr old wanting to have sex ..

In Queensland, the age of consent is 16, except for anal intercourse, which is not legal until the age of 18.
I am more concerned with the fact that your boyfriend is 23. Most normal 23 year old men are not interested in a 16 yr. old.
What it looks like is that he will use you for sex until you get too old for him and then dump you for another younger girl. Please wait until you are 18. If you are still both interested in each other by then, go for it.

In America, the age of concent varies from state to state, with some states being 16, some beign 17, and some being 18. Sorry don't know about Australia, it should be common knowledge ask some of your friends or a police officer.

I'd be more concerned as to why a 23 year old wants a 16 year old. I'm sure you have great qualities, and maturity might be one of them, but a man that age wanting someone so much younger is definitely suspect.
I would be very afraid he has some issues to deal with. I would also be afraid he picks someone so young because he feels empowered and able to be more in control...which is a problem in itself. I hope you both decide to move on and date people more your own age and maturity levels.

This looks very suspect because of the age difference. Even if you don't report him, if your parents or anyone else find out, he might still get in trouble. I suggest dating people your own age... but depending on how long you have been together, how conservative your parents are, and how serious you are about the relationship, it may be ok.

You are legal in Queensland. Firstly get your self covered contraceptive wise....condoms are not enough. Then ask yourself are you really ready. If you were I think it would have "just happened" already. But at least you are thinking before doing.

most country's or states have different laws. so it would be best if you called the police or courthouse to find out. by the way!by asking this question makes you appear very mature, always look at all the angles before jumping into any relationship or anything

Hi there. Because you're under 18 (and considered a minor under Australian law) this would be considered statutory rape. Your boyfriend could be arrested and even jailed. It's best if you wait until you're 18, otherwise you could be forced to wait (if he did get sent to prison).

Most likely, it's illegal. It is here in America and we tend to be more liberal on some things. No offense to you, but I'd question why your bf is with a 16 year old. Why can't he find anyone his age? He sounds like a cradle robber to me.
