Bear in mind that I'm only posting this because I have an compulsive need to make film lists and share them, but feel free to answer it anyway. Mine are:
1. The Great Dictator (Charles Chaplin)
2. The Garden of the Finzi-Continis (Vittorio De Sica)
3. The Last Metro (Francois Truffaut)
4. Au revoir les enfants (Louis Malle)
5. The Pianist (Roman Polanski)
And no, I don't think that Schindler's List belongs on this list, the same way that I don't think Steven Spielberg should be allowed near a camera. It's conventional, Hollywood and soulless, and filled with unreasonable, self-hoisted platitudes. A film that has no sensibilities toward the actions of its characters and no soul to coincide with its occasional passionate moments.

Um, hello, I don't watch Schindler's List.
Seriously, that bugs the hell out of me. I literally spend hours anaylyzing films and trying to write informed and objective opinions, and then people just come along and say (in what I'm sure is an annoying tone of voice), "Nuh-uh, you're wrong!"

Really? The things depicted in The Passion of the Christ actually happened? I would love to see your historical evidence...
But back to the point, what does that have to do with the quality of the film? Here, I'll answer my own question: not a goddamn thing.
