Countries with higher standards of living often times have lower birthrates. This tends to bo due to better health care, so people live longer and have other things to do rather than have children. Children also become something the person wants, rather than needs. Countries with lower standards of living have higher birthrates because more children are needed to make everyday life as easy as possible.

In general, no matter the species, the population of birth increases when the times of fruitful economics has been reached. There is a better ability to care for children and a more relaxed need to breed healthily. Some nations show a spike in birth rates while other show a drop during economic booms. When the economy does well and employment increases a safety net is developed. Then again, overpopulations and population aging leads to stress on the economy.

um...no. lower birthrates indicate a lower standard of living. higher birthrates (more successful live births) are usually an indicator of superior medical technology and/or access to excellent prenatal care. usually, poorer countries cannot afford the medical supplies required to ensure healthful births, like a sonogram machine to monitor the babies health in utero, or the tools necessary and the skill level required to perform emergency or c section deliveries. the former must cost thousands of dollars and the latter as much or more to go to a decent medical school.
