false, all rectangles are squares because a rectangle is just a four sided figure that is equiangular (all sides connect at an angle of 90 degrees). A square is equiangular with all sides connecting at 90 degree angles, but to also be a square it must have equilateral sides. This means that each side must also be the same length.

and there's the answer....hope you or your kid gets this in time!

rectangles are squares.

They both have 4 sides In a square all the sides are the same. But in a rectangle, only two opposite sides are the same. All the sides of a square are congruent, or have equal lengths, and only the opposite sides of the rectangle must be congruent.
Thus, a rectangle must have opposite sides that are parallel and equal and four right angles. A square must have opposite sides parallel, all sides congruent, and four right angles. Both of them are paeallelograms but a rectangle he rectangle is a parallelogram with four right angles, while a square is a parallelogram with four congruent sides and four right angles. A square IS a
rectangle. but a rectangle is NOT a square.because it is not required to have four congruent sides.

So the statement is false
