I hate flying too. I get jittery every time I get on a plane but I just lean my seat back & close my eyes I do a bit of deep breathing.
The best thing to remember is that it is safer to fly in the United States than it is to drive from your house to a supermarket less than a mile away.
I hate statistics but here's one that is quite mind boggling when it comes to flying... If the air traffic controllers were only 99% effective with flights into/out of LAX, there would be over five crashes per day in Los Angeles alone. Moral of that story? Flying in the U.S. is pretty darn safe.

Have you ever taken a ride on a bus? Like a school bus, or city bus? Think of it like that. The only difference will be the take-off and the landing, and those last only for a few seconds. Once the plane is in the air, most trips are smoother than riding in a car.
Take along a book or magazine to keep yourself occupied. The trip will be over before you know it.
Good luck, and have a great trip. Don't let your fear of flying cause you so much anxiety, concentrate on the fun you are going to have!

I hate flying too and hope I never have to fly again. It's a hard fear to get over. Ive flown a couple of times but it wasn't easy for me. Basically you just have to do it and face your fears. I also suggest taking something to do on the plane. Like a book or magazine. Something that will keep you occupied through most of the flight.
good luck to you. I feel your fear!

Get your doctor to prescribe you a seditive, like prozac, valium or something along that line to help you calm down before flying, You'd probely sleep your whole trip away and be good to go when you make it here to florida. I weather is in the high 70's right now.

take your own music and just jam out in an aisle seat. if the ride is smooth you wont even really notice you are on a plane. the flight attendants are used to big chickens like you so ask them for pointers while you are boarding and let them know you might be a freaking if something happens so they will look out for you more. they are usually really nice people and appreciate people who appreciate them.

just think about the things you'll be doing in florida.
sleep the whole time, look outside the plane, to see the beautiful city you live in, look at the sky, if you have a beachside, look at it!
