There probably is nothing wrong, a lot of females have "irregular" periods. But go get it check just in case, because if you wait and you do have a problem it might just get worse.

Well, you can go see the doctor now and get the bad news - in which case it could be something as small as an infection that can be cleared up with an antibiotic. OR... you can wait until it is REALLY bad, you become anemic from all the blood loss, and go see the doctor who will tell you that you waited so long that you've now destroyed your reproductive system - damaging fallobian tubes, the uterus, etc. from a now-severe infection.
Obviously, you should go see the doctor.

First, if you are sexually active, take a pregnancy test. The bleeding could be mentrual but could also be first trimester spotting.
Secondly, if you are not sexually active, or the pregnancy test is negative, you most likely are just having a hormonal issue such as an anovulatory cycle. Typically, it corrects itself but it wouldn't hurt to make an appointment with a gynecologist.
If dysfunctional uterine bleeding continues to be a problem, you doctor may discuss putting you on oral contraceptives, which help regulate periods.
Don't be afraid. You're not dying.

Even though it's scary, you really should go to the doctor. Not knowing what's wrong won't make it go away, and the doctor should be able to help. It may be as easy as giving you birth control to help regulate your period.

You're only 16 years old. Your menstration cycle isn't suppose to be normal. At least it won't be for another couple of years. You're fine.

Hon...you need to see a doctor. It could be something like endometriosis, or fibroid cysts...which can be treated and help you with that pain!

Yes, please see a doctor. If you want, you might want to browse some of the many women's health sites out there, like
