The Baja is like a mini-pick up with an open rear. This means the stroller will be affected by the weather, and being in the army you will be moving (possible) to an area with inclement weather, so I vote Tribecca. They are both very safe vehicles, being subarus. If you can handle the higher ground clearance, stick with the Tribecca. I know there is a price difference, but the Tribecca will serve family needs better than a Baja. A baja is basically for new drivers, teens to college who want to take surfboards or skis to events, or retired folks who want to hit the road and carry stuff. I am sure you will not be disappointed with the subaru.

The Tribeca is a new, mid-sized luxury SUV. The baja is a small 4-door sedan with a pickup truck open back. These two vehicles reallly don't compare. If you need that open back- like, for building materials and rocks, then the baja. If you want comfortable, secure, stylish transportation- then the Tribeca.

If you're willing to spend close to $30K for a near new Tribeca- you'll love it. Plenty of room for the stroller and everything else you need. Plus- it's been ranked as one of the safest vehicles on the road. It's a lot of vehicle for your first car. You might want to pick up a gently used Forester. Very practical, much cheaper and a good car.

Subaru's are generally reliable, tend to be very safe, and all have all-wheel drive. Great if you live where it snows. (50% of Vermonters can't be wrong :) )

If you're going to buy a Tribeca- the going rate for a new '07 is no more than $1250 below INVOICE. Maybe $2000 below invoice. For any '06's still on the lots, think $3K or more below invoice.
