you know, good question....

it's sad that "the thug" has become champion for millions of kids. whatever happened to wanting to be smart?

and, letting kids grow up using that kind of language does nothing for the impression they'll make on future employers or college scouts.

Because it sells more records. Think about it. Before 50 came out he was shot like 9 times living that life and then he made beef with Ja Rule from some mess they went through before either of them became famous. That beef alone sold him a lot of records and made him lots of money. Gangsta rap was started on the west coast by gang members and thugs and it was what the people wanted and needed to hear. They're glamorizing this life so that the regular Joe thugs and drug dealers can have justification in what they do. Its just like the naked pop and R&B singers I think they're making money on what the body looks like if not then they would be able to be like the Debbie Gibson's and Tiffany's who didn't have to show t & a to get a gold or platinum record. A prime example is MC Hammer. When he came out he wasnt street and the gangsta rappers labeled him as a sellout. After a while you couldn't pay a black person to buy his albums and since he wasnt street when he came out he couldnt go street later on when he tried. Nobody bought it. Thats when folks realized this is what needs to be done in order to make music. To be totally honest I have no respect for any rapper since the deaths of 2Pac and Biggie cause it took the industry to a level that I will never be proud of. Hope this helps.

Because that's what the masses want to hear. all the white suburban kids that buy all the cds think that really cool. some of them proly actually did that but the majority of them are just putting on an act to sell records.

because that is the kind of "life" that appeals to the people who listen to that crap. they, the listeners, are most likely drug dealers with 8 kids with 5 or 6 people

Because if they tell the truth, and let us all know that they're STILL selling drugs, the cops will be all over them.

That lifestyle has been glamorized and it sells unfortunately. That's what's considered 'cool" which is really sad.
