your dreams are created in the subconscious part of your mind.
only the strong dreams that manage to interject with your conscious part are remembered.
when you wake up the new information from your brain is not a resident one , it afects only the short period memory. and when your brain intercept stronger informations because you just wake up the dream desapear.

if you only sleep a few hours you probably wont remember your dreams. as the night goes on your dreams get longer. the first dream of your night is actually just one picture/thought like "strawberry". as the night goes on they get longer and more detailed. it would be a good idea to keep a dream journal, but when you wake up, dont turn over because somehow that makes you forget them faster.

When You sleep a chemical in your brain goes up but it often inhibits memory. It is easy to confuse dreams for imagination and vice versa because a dream and an imagination is so surreal.

usually its because your dreams are only about 5-7 seconds long, though they do seem longer. but you have about 6-8 dreams a night. sometimes you dont remember them because of stress and you mind is focusing on something else than what you were just dreaming. this doesnt really help much but maby you learned something new!

I don't know, but that sort of thing happens to me too. Sometimes, I'm not sure if one dream was the first time I dreamed it, or if I dreamed it a million times before and now I'm just dreaming it again. Creeeeepy. :)

most people do, there are internet sites that can help you remember them , and the other stuff is lucid dreaming, when the waking and sleeping worlds blur.
