I see it alot in the schools with the first generation American Hmong and Mexican little girls. I saw it again today. I like the concept of the name (proud enough to be in this country to name their kid that) then the actual sound of the name.

I ran across someone who named their little girl Aspen and I thought that was SO cute! I like different names, but not names that will lead kids to make fun...keep that in mind, kids like to pick on others with "funny" names and unless you're a celebrity child you should be able to count on your folks giving you a name that is meaningful to them but won't cause future problems in school or while job hunting. "America" seems too patriotic like you are sucking up to your country or something. Maybe you could go with something like "Americus" from the movie, "Where the heart is." Other similar names are Ameri or Amerisa.

I once knew a girl named America and her last name was Poopo!
I am not kidding. Her family came from Mexico.

Have you read the book/seen the movie Where the Heart Is?
The baby in that book was named Americus. I like that name

I dont really like it.. it kind of reminds me of that movie WHere the heart is. she names her daughter Americus. That sounds a little better

I love unique names but I don't know..this one is kinda pushing it a little. Everyone has different taste though. What about just Merica maybe?
