I have been involved with ins, companies and auto body shops for about 30 years. For the most part dealer auto body shops are the least desirable. Most shops are on flat rate for the body men so the faster the fix your car the more money the get paid in salary. So spending time to do things right hurts their take home pay .Customers never win and that where I see the lowest quality work done.
It does seem though every community has one great shop that people trust and highly recommend. To find out who this might be is ask around people in the know like mechanics ,coffee shops townies ,auto part stores or anyone who delivers autobody parts for any dealership because the go to every bodyshop around and knows whats going on--hows good and who's not. I would not ask any tow truck driver or ins.agent because this to much special interest there many times. I hope I helped. Also if your car is close to total push to get it totaled .I've seen too many car that are fixed that should never be fixed and feel very bad for the people stuck with them.

i never recommend taking a car that is more than three years old to the dealer. after that a lot of the parts needed for repair become "special order" that are pretty pricey. the guy that suggested talking to the adjuster is right. the best advice will come from your insurance's claim department.

Have your insurance adjuster give you an estimate for the repairs or a payoff if it's totalled. He'll also recommend their body shop that he knows does good work for your insurance company.

Call their insurance and they should send out an adjuster to assess the damage. If the dealer has a body shop you could go there

If you have full coverage contact your ins. agent. He should take care of all of it plus get you a rental.
