It's a week-to-week poll, so this week, yeah I think they are worthy of the top spot. They beat the Spurs, and have been winning solidly, albeit at home.
The proof will be in road wins. If they can't win on the road, then they are probably no better than 3rd in the West.
I can't say that there is one clear #1 team right now. The Lakers are worth consideration for now.

uuuuuuggggghhhhhh... if they really are ranked at no. 1, it won't be for long-- that's what i think about that.
honestly, they are a good team. but they are not fun to watch and they are all selfish players. love 'em or hate 'em, i guess.

wtf?! #1 is being a little extreme. as much as i hate the lakers, i admit they are pretty good but not number 1. you have Dallas, Phoenix, Utah, Orlando, San Antonio etc. no, #1 is definitely a stretch.
