The System pays mothers 2/3 of the cost to survive. Then when they find the other 1/3 of the cost to live, the mothers are called scroungers and scandals looms.
Here in Maine the state will pay $400 a month per kid and To the mother $400 for two kids. There are cheats and SURVIVORS Why rat upon Survivors?
Why not ask wHY DOESN'T SOCIAL SECURITY PAY ENOUGH TO COVER THE MODEST COSTS OF LIVING?

The system we have serves only to punish not to reward.
Would it not be great if someone who goes 10 years without any criminal convictions at all (no speeding fines, no ASBOs, no parking tickets etc) got a £10 tax rebate as a special thank you.
That would be great.
If people had incentives to be good rather than just punishments for being bad then the system would be fairer. The rewards would not have to be big or frequent - anything at all would be a nice gesture.
So yeah - a reward for spotting a benefit cheater would be worthwhile.

I have just been reading some of the answers to your question. It is clear that some of those who have replied are on the fiddle somewhere along the line. Cheating the system is not cheating the Government, but cheating the rest of the population who have to pay taxes to keep the idle slobs. Don't get me wrong, the benefit scheme is there to help those who need it, and in fact those who genuinely need it could get more if it wasn't for those who abuse it. Lets take car tax for example, people who do not pay car tax are not insured, so we all pay a higher insurance rate to cover the cost of being involved in an accident with an uninsured driver. The cost of living in this country is 4% higher than it should be, why, because the retailer adds 4% to cover the cost of theft ( shoplifting ). Dole, social security, car tax/insurance cheats - its us, Joe Mug Public who pick up the bill.
Should we report them, YES.
Those in genuine need should get far more than they do at present. Those who are to lazy too work and scrounge of the state ( US ) should be reported, and not for reward.
Sorry if this view upsets you Phoenix.

Do you know how much a Fraud Squad Investigator with DSS earns a year . I do. So let them do the job they are highly overpaid to do. They depend on you to make their job easy while still lifting a hefty pay check. By the way I don't believe people should be benefit cheats if they were all paid the same as DSS Fraud Squad Investigators there would be no cheating.

grass!!!, not sticking up for the fraudsters, but look at the so called asylum seekers.at least these people are British born and bred.[not meaning asylum seekers] put your energies else where. government are the biggest cheats.they have cheated us out of our country. putting us down and playing up to the minorities, and now they want to do a u turn when it is too late. don't call our British people for cheating, its undeniable offensive of them,, but so is this governments waste of tax payers money, to defend asylum seekers in court over petty thing such as sex orientation and height, also the Muslim right to wear the penguin outfit. legal aid, funded by you and me, Cherie Blair represents these people, what does that make her, biggest cheat yet, she knows what goes on, but what does she care, you want to grass on the small man?,, look beyond your nose

I assume knowing that you have reported them to the authorities should be reward enough.
What about the countless numbers of people who are entitled to social security but don't claim it, people who have members of their family who are old infirm and sick and care for them on a daily basis, the long term unemployed and people who have been made redundant and who are too old to get back into work but dont claim benefit, thats the real crime.
