I would run a bath and have the water temp 98-100 degrees get in the bath and hold the baby on you maybe breast feed and get their feet in then slowly get the rest of their body in with you. Hold on to their head and float the baby on their back making sure they don;t turn their head to drink the water (which they do)
I bath my 3 week old like this and he loves it... NEVER cries and is completely relaxed..
Dont be afraid just becareful and make sure you don;t let them turn their head into the water.
Have fun

She's cold. and she is all loose. newborns cry (i mean scream) when they are given thier first bath. You aren't doing anything wrong. IF you feel comfortable and have stopped bleeding you could get into the bathtub with her and do it that way. Babies love the smell of thier parents. or you could think about getting a helper and fill the tub so she can just float in the water and someone cups the base of her neck and just let her float and look around, have a nice soothing conversation with her, while the other washes very gently and slowly. or you can do what you are doing , any way she will be ok just make sure you take your time and be relaxed as hard as tat may seem . Good luck!!!!

Hehe... sorry this brings back fond memories. My Second daughter was exactly like that.... and now at 5 yrs old she has an hour limit in the bath tub! Going back into the water can be a little startling for a newborn. Relax you are not hurting her.. (unless the water is too warm) Try to keep the bathroom very warm and make it quick! she will adjust slowly. My second daughter would scream the entire time she was in the tub. she stopped after she was about 6 months old and we had toys for her to play with and now she is a little fish!!!

look here is the thing most newborns are like that they cry so hard when water hit them my friend just had a baby and she cries the minute the water touches her body the way to calm them down is to brush there hair after it calms them down after that you know you fry them off and put there clothes on and then they will be okay. You know how when you get out the shower even in the summer time it is kinda cold well it is the same way for babies accept it is worse because there body is used to always being warm. hopefully this helps you any further information contact me or a new mother.

No that's normal. You can try using water that is a little bit warmer and having the heater on in the room so it's not cold.
Your baby will get used to bathing, don't worry.

My babe cried when the water was too cold. The nurse gave her a both that both my mother and mother in law thought was too hot and she loved it. My mom said, hmm, maybe that is why you and your sisters always cried in the tub. We were always told luke warm.
Hope this helps

She is unlikely to be afraid, after all, she has just spent 9 months swimming around.
Perhaps your water has been too cold??
Just give her a bath, see what happens.
Best of luck :)

My son was like that too. It took a while to get him use to it! But give her time, and you will see.

Is this Andrea Yates? She knows what happens when you give kids a bath.
