It all depends on how you interpret the lyrics--I personally haven't heard any Christian metal bands sing about anything Satanic or anything like that. More likely they're expressing their angst against the times they feel isolated from God. Besides, why shouldn't Christians be able to express themselves in multiple genres? I'm a Christian, but I feel that a lot of the contemporary Christian music that isn't my style personally. Why should we get stuck with bubble gum music? It's a common misconception that if you become a Christian that all the bad things just go away and so all Christian music should be happy music. I myself have gone through some rough times where I've screamed out to God "why me?" I can really relate sometimes to the Evanessence song, Tourniquet. But that's just my opinion.

Because they think Christianity isn't appealing to the youth of today, in it's present state. You can't draw young people toward the church with Sandra Dee singing 'Amazing Grace'.

It's a method of keeping kids interested in the religion, as well as a way to recruit kids who listen to "secular" music. When I was in high school there were a lot of Christian punk and ska bands. They're just as bad as tobacco companies, trying anything to brainwash kids.

I dunno if you mean 'death metal' exactly. Besides, a style of music does not guarantee a certain kind of content. Separate the message from the medium.
