None of the above.

The United States of America is not, and was never intended to be a democracy. It is a Republic, as per Article 4 section 4 of the United States Constitution: "The United States shall guarantee to every state in this Union a Republican form of government..."
Our particular form of government, as crafted by the founders, had never before existed in history because they took all of the best elements from the past and applied them to the principles of the Declaration of Independence.

Democracy is not a form of government at all; it is actually a means by which tyrants take power, since democracy is based on majority rule, allowing demagogues to form and guide the will of the majority.

"Democracies have ever been spectacles of turbulence and contention; have ever been found incompatible with personal security, or the rights of property; and have in general been as short in their lives as they have been violent in their deaths..."

Our Founding Fathers condemned democracy...
Karl Marx endorsed it in his Communist Manifesto.
