What kind of plant is it? This can mean a lot of things. Some have already been suggested, such as underwatering or low humidity. Brown leaf tips can also be caused by 'poisoning' by chemicals/salts in the water that you are using to water the plant. Fluoride in tap water can cause this sort of thing. A buildup of salts in the soil can also do this. How do you water your plant? Use distilled water with fertilizer (follow the directions! too much fertilizer is bad). But first, flush the soil that the plant is in. Take the pot and keep filling it with water until the water just keeps flowing out of the bottom of the pot. This will wash any accumulated salts from the soil. Let it drain completely and go back to your normal watering schedule, but don't use your tap water. Hope that helps.

over watering will kill the plant's roots and cause the rest of the plant to wither.
