Some are both. Roadrunners are typically predators, preying on snakes, lizards and small mammals if they can get them; but Roadrunners can also be prey, with snakes preying on the eggs and young if they can find them. Gila monsters are predators, eating insects, small reptiles, young mammals if they can get them, and the eggs and young of birds; but they are also prey to hawks and other birds of prey, and roadrunners will take on young gila monsters. Quail are predators if you consider that they prey on small insects, but they are primarily eaters of seeds and grains, and are more likely to be preyed on by other animals (mainly hawks, coyotes, foxes and people) than to be considered predators. The cactus wren eats bugs, small reptiles, and the young of small mammals if it can get them, so it's more of a predator than a prey animal, but snakes and animals like coyotes and foxes will eat both adult and juvenile cactus wrens if they can get them.

well the 3 birds can be predator (as they all eat insects and the roadrunner eats lizards and snakes) BUT can also be eaten by coyotes, raptors, or other small mammals, so they are also prey. Gila montster are venemous, so they too are predators, and due to their venem, I don't think anyone would want to eat them. You should do some more research, but I would think this is the ONLY one on the list that may not be a prey item.

The roadrunner, quail and gila monster are all predators. Where as the roadrunner, quail, gila monster and cactus are all prey at the same time.

If you eat, you are predator. If you get eaten, you are prey.

Each of those eats something except cactus. So all but the cactus are predators. But all of them get eaten (even the cactus) so they are all prey too.

all but the cactus can be classified as both predator and prey, though plants arn't usually thought of as prey.
