Well here's what i would do i would go down to the river or the local rock club and pick up a good sized rock then paint a picture on it and put in an over sized box filled with news paper, and leave it under tree, but in the mean time go to some craft shops and look for porcelain masks or woven flower baskets something nice and classy but within your budget then wrap it and keep it hidden until Christmas, when she opens her Christmas present with the rock in it take a picture of the confused look on her face, and then give her the real present that way she gets a Christmas prank and classy gift to match her surprise lol.

Is this a question from England? Mum huh? My 'mum' passed on 20 years ago, but I know what you mean about 'hard to buy for'.
Well I reckon something practical would hit the spot. Maybe a nice pair of warm bedroom slippers. Something she could wear year 'round over there in that cold foggy climate. Well, there's my two cents (or pennies).

if there is someplace she has always wanted to go but hasnt or her favorite place to be and if she collects anything, get her something from her favorite/ most wanted place to be in the thing that she collects. Or something to help her with stuff around the house like cleaning lady gift cirtificates for a yr. It helps out older people a lot. But if she is the kind of person who would ask you if you are suggesting that her house was dirty or getting old, than i recomend not getting it for her. Good luck

We are pitching in and getting my grandma (72) a digital picture frame. They have them at Target. We are going to load it up full of pictures of the family. I think it's a great gift and she would probably love it. They are a little expensive, but maybe someone can go in on it with you if you can't afford it.

if she is hard to buy for , then let her choose... , how do you do that ? buy her a gift certificate at the amount of money you want , give it to her and then she can buy whatever she likes with that money. see http://goodmanzone.tripod.com for gift certificates and other good Christmas gift ideas.
