Most of the "posers" I know of listen to pop-punk, nu-metal, or popular rock like green day, simple plan, good charlotte, my chemical romance, slipknot, korn, marilyn manson, cradle of filth... etc. You know, the "alternative MTV" bands.

Usually they have the gross misconception that this music is the epitome of "goth" or "punk", or even some non-existent subculture, based on two subcultures that can only co-exist peacefully in the head of someone who knows nothing about either subculture. I am, of course, talking about "punk goth". Yawn.

The bands may or may not be good on their own--but so called "posers" usually ruin the fanbase (and sometimes the band) for everyone.

posers listen to rap, especially if they're WHITE. metal isn't music for anyone but white supremicists and industrial is only for eurotrash.
hip hop is the mating cry of the poser along with 80's music accept for Poison and Tom Petty wasn't he kicking *** in the seventies??

for my section the full stereotype element is incredibly puffed up. Who cares what human beings think of appropriate to the music you hear to?? why does it count? this question looks like something one among my little sisters might inquire from me to attempt and make themselves look "cool" because of the music they hear too. kinda immature.. i like music.. each type.. I hear to rock/metallic generally..and that i dress very preppy.. in simple terms given which you hear to a definite style of music does no longer mean you would be able to desire to stay as much because it incredibly is cliche. this does not answer your question yet I in simple terms felt the would desire to throw my opinion available.
