Your first dance, how fun! You didn't say how old you are, but I'm guessing about 13 or 14, maybe? Personally, I wouldn't go with jeans and a shirt. I mean, you wear jeans and a shirt to the mall, right? It's so "been there, done that." Yes, it's an informal dance, but that just means you're not going to be decked out like you're going to prom. You'll still want to look nice and that means a pretty (but not formal) dress or slacks/skirt with a cute top. Do wear flats so your feet don't hurt from dancing and standing all night, and if you don't usually wear makeup, now's your chance to try some out (and if you already do, then glam it up just a little more than normal).
For a little extra fun (and if you don't have a date), invite a couple of your friends over beforehand so you can all get ready together. You can compare notes on how your outfits look, share clothes if you want and then all go to the dance together.

You should wear a pair of tight flare jeans or a jean miniskirt. For the top, it should be cute, tight, comfy, and something that you feel good in. Maybe a lowcut shirt layered over a tanktop, and a lacy tanktop would look really cute. Then, wear flipflops that are the same color as either the top shirt or the tank that is underneath the shirt. And you should wear a pearl necklace because pearls are a cute and classy accent to any outfit that can help to pull it together!

Either a cute (not too revealing) sparkly top and a denim skirt with leggings and ballerina flats, or the same cute sparkly top with skinny jeans and the same flats. Either one will look really cute and casual, yet sort of special and fashionable, and most importantly, you will be comfortable in them.

well im guessing u r under 12 and so am i i go to every dance and i wear leggins mostly and a jean skirt with a cute tee from abercrombie or hollister

well if its informal, then you should wear khakis or dress pants, not a fancy dress or anything with sequins. wear a cute top with that. Tight dresses you can find at fashion bug or Kohl's always work well. If it is formal, then you should go with the sequins.

wear a jean skirt and acute but not sleazy top... wear cute but comfy shoes and earrings that look good... dont go too heavy on the makeup but waer a little bit..........
