The last elections left me with a bit of a bitter sensation. I'm very glad the Democats beat the Repelicans by a large margin. But is America really happy? I think we need to reform our electoral system (not including the Electoral College in this one, sorry) but we need to be careful. Have you noticed that Iraq and Afghanistan electoral systems were created by a special commission? We worry too much about the rest of the world but not enough on ourselves, is that fair? We need and deserve a fairer electoral system that opens competition nationwide. Now, do you want to see us use a system like IRV, a system like party list PR or a mixed system? I think that IRV would be the cheap way for politicians to reform the system. PR or STV are far away dreams federally. I think I agree with a mixed system. And it could be a compromise choice. Listen to the voters!! If every state could put PR on the ballot as a measure and we all approve it, PR or STV will be used.

My personal preference is Instant Runoff Voting, as it gives the voter the choice to vote their conscience, if they feel that neither of of major-party candidates properly represents them, while having the fallback option of the lesser of two evils, so they don't feel they've wasted their time at the polls. It is simple enough for most people to understand, and straightforward to tally.

I agree that this could lead very logically into Single Transferable Vote and ultimately Proportional Representation, but I think IRV is the best logical first step.

Get rid of the Parties. The parties are helping the polititians get elected and in exchange, they give up their right to free thinking. Way too many congressmen just vote the party line and it becomes a fight between right and left, rather than right and wrong.

Secondly, the Electoral college are not obligated to vote with the majority of the people, which is screwed up.

The electoral college needs to be abolished.
Make every vote count.

How about one where the companies making the voting machines and tabulation software aren't owned and run by criminals.
