You havent said whether anything generates sound on your pc my friend. Add a bit more info and im sure one of us techies will straighten things out......good luck.

Where does the sound usually come from? speakers or monitor?

are all cables in tightly?

Is the volume set to mute?

Do you have a TFT monitor and maybe you have caught the sound button?

Does the DVD actually play sound on anything else?

You may have muted the sound. Open the sound scheme and see if it is set as you want . That is volume, balance etc. On my computer you have to click on the speaker icon on the task bar. Or you can go to Start and 'set program access and defaults.'

Do you have a soundcard in your computer? If not, you'll get very poor sound even at top volume. Try using headphones and checking the computer's volume levels and see if that helps.

OK now for the correct answer. It is probably because your PC does not have the correct codec for the dvd. Download this free player to solve your problem. http://www.videolan.org/vlc/

there is a cable that runs from your sound card to the cd/dvd drive. without this cable plugged in you will not get any sound.
this means opening up your pc and checking.
