I think it might have something to do with warming my hands up with some body heat. Does sitting on your hands help you concentrate?

Hmm, I'd never really thought about it before! But now that I do, I realize that I only ever sit on my hands to warm them up. I suppose that might help you to think better because you wouldn't be so distracted by being cold, and would be able to focus more on whatever you're thinking about. Maybe it's also because your hands can't move around or fidget and do things that might otherwise distract you. Just some guesses! Good observation though

Doesn't help me but read an article lately that said those small habits that we have (chewing gum, playing with a pencil or eraser), etc. is helping concentration. So I guess your way is sitting on your hands!

i do that to sometimes,i also tap and shake my feet when I'm deep in thought i thought i was the only person who does the sitting on my hand thing
