the abc song and the twinkle twinkle little star have the same melody? why is that.

Yes - I noticed it as a little kid; it was probably one of my first experiences with hearing alternate lyrics for a particular tune. I think I was about 7 when I figured it out.

Yes, I noticed that to. The reason I was given is because it was believed that children would know the songs better if the tunes were the same. Like "Happy Birthday" and "Good Morning Dear Teacher" .Same old tunes different words. I guess back then people didn't think children had smart enough brains.
