It's past time to legalize Marijuana....It could be taxed, it could be used a medicine, other countries would no longer be exporting it so the crime that surrounds it would halt, decrease the time and amount of money the DEA spends trying to control it. Money we could spend on many other more important issues. We could try to control it so grade school kids would not be smoking it... Improve farming in the United States, a new cash crop, and they could grow it instead tobacco.......Less kids would take it up because the "bad behavior" would no longer be illegal......It could be studied a lot more thoroughly, it's benefits, it's toxins, it's ability to cause disease, etc. Good question....It's time the baby boomers get honest and start another movement like they did in the 60's...............

Well... Marijuana can have some health benifets. Scientists have done tests on lab rats and found that marijuana can help prevent alzheimer's. I would be in favor of legalizing it, only if it could be used at certain places. In some European countires, marijuana is legal. It isn't as much of a problem as people would think.

I am not in favor of Marijuana in any way.. BUT.. in order to deprive the corrupt police and the whole police system of getting money from it, I would much prefer that it be legalized and thus they could not get their hands illegally on drug money...and the drug itself so they can resell it and the corruption involved in the incarcerations, bail moneys, crooked judges, crooked attorneys, crooked district attorneys, etc.. They would all be losing billions of dollars because marijuana is not yet legalized

Money. Freedom. Respect for the Law. We waste lots of manpower prosecuting and investigating marijuana use which at worst is a non victim crime. The law of California says use for medical reason is approved but the Federal government still prosecutes. This creates a disrespect for law. This attitude will carry over to other laws such as taxation and set up a disrespect for authority which is bad for everyone.

Past time, wouldn't need the so called "war on drugs" if just legalized all of it would we? We are losing that "war" by the way.
Advantages? Tax it like they do cigarettes and alcohol. Use the money to put better drug resistance programs in schools and after school programs.
Make sure all users are registered and they have medical insurance so that when they get all messed up their care is on their dollar.

Compare that to cigarettes. The taxes collected would be amazing. The government could then aim their "War on drugs" at the other street drugs. Of course, a large percentage of those new found tax dollars would go to keeping stoned people from driving.

All drugs should be legalized IMHO. You see if you take a look at drug policy its mostly based on racist issues, not actual human health problems. The reason that most drugs are illegal today is because of political idealology and racism carrying on, and it has nothing, or at least, very little to do with protecting health. I think drug policy needs to be revamped and changed. Do what the Netherlands did, and classify drugs based on potential for real societal harm, not on some 1920's Refer Madness.

No because we're not going to make fuel or clothing or anything of the sort out of it.
