I had a piggy bank but it had a plug you took out so you didn't have to smash it. I always wanted to do it though. Such a horrid childhood hehe.

I still have my decades-old terra cotta armadillo; I learned how to wedge out the coins from the slot with a blunt knife. These days, I keep foreign coins in it. Someday, I'll wedge them out and remember the story of how each one came to be there.

I had a big plastic one, but there was a slot at the bottom so you didn't have to break it.
