why does my computer say I have only 450 Mb free when it has a 1G ram memory?

Hi ,I think you may be referring to a 1Gb stick which is only showing 450 , if this is the case it's probably because the computer will only see a maximum of 512 gb per slot leaving the rest not used . the answer is to use two 512 sticks insted of a single 1gb ,hope this is on the right track and it helps,I just had the same problem :>) Paul

because the 450 mb free is hard drive space not ram memory 2 different things

If you press Ctrl + Alt + Delete the task manager will pop up. If you click the tab that says Processes it will show you, which programs are running and how much ram they are using.

When you are running programs, they are loaded into your ram. The amount that is "Free" it simply what is not being used.
