Yes, this is true in the sense that the Eastern, or Byzantine, Empire did survive until 1453, when it was conquered by the Ottomans.

The fall of the Roman Empire in the West is generally held to be c. 473, but the seat of government had been moved some hundred years prior to Constantinople (present-day Istanbul).

So, the Eastern Empire continued for nearly 1000 more years.

It's a trick question. You could say false and be correct as the Holy Roman Empire was around into the 1800's.

false. not sure why just seems way too long to me. i think the empire was actually broken up before the middle ages.
