If you can still visit the website without logging in, see if you can take a look at the site's Terms of Use (TOU). The TOU should have specifc information about what the site's policies are, what they consider to be offensive/unacceptable behavior, and how long bans would be.
If the TOU doesn't have the answer (or if you can't get onto the website at all), e-mail a moderator and ask him/her nicely. I emphasize NICELY! Since you've been banned from the forum, you're probably already in some trouble with the moderator(s), and being rude won't help your situation.
