Synthetic diamonds currently available, such as those from Gemesis and Apollo, are laser-inscribed with an identifying serial number. It is also possible to identify them by fluorescence or spectroscopy, due to differences in impurities between natural and synthetic diamonds. Otherwise, these are the same form of crystalline carbon as natural diamonds.
Other synthetic gems are typically produced with a fluorescent marker to distinguish them from natural stones; perhaps something like this will be agreed on for synthetic diamonds as well.

Man made diamonds are called diamonds.
The easiest way to tell a man made from a natural diamond is by the price. The man made will be much more expensive. Both are "real" by the way.

Zirconium is what they call it. They can make it prettier than a real diamond, I guess only a Jeweler could tell the difference.

Several companie make them by different techniques.
They're called "cultured" diamonds.
The companies that make them deliberately put in colored impurities ("doping") so they can be distinguished from natural diamonds using spectroscopy.
