Do you think that the government should change American currency to make it easier for the blind to distinguish? This could cost the country up to 200 mil. dollars. Should that amount of money be spent in other areas?

Why would it cost that much?

New Canadian bills already have such features. Raised print and Braille. AND those features for the blind help to make it more difficult to counterfeit. AND counterfeiting costs Americans a lot of money.

Money doesn't have to be taken out of circulation. All that needs to happen is that the new bills be fitted with tactile enabled print. Thus the blind can feel the bills. By phasing in the new bills and coins costs are kept at a minimum and the Blind are serviced. Two hundred million is spent annually on design and tooling of individual stamps. Money is only changed periodically. This means that the 200 mill MAX will be phased in over several years. It is thus a resonable cost, valid objective and useful technology that will enable more freedom to the Blind. I hope this assists you.
