great question by the way, i believe no to your last question. humans with the capability of mind and body were absolutely created to create, in whatever sense you speak of humans (evolutionary or creationist). constructive activity behooves all of humanity. as well look at a giant earth moving machine and say it was created to "ponder its own existence" or "look pretty" and not actually deduce an intent of the machine from its design. were it any other way, why the limbs, articulated fingers, complexity of the brain, joints, musculature, ligaments, etc ?. of course if you mean strictly in the secular sense of job, then its entirely arbitrary, some of us have good jobs, others have sucky jobs.

A job allows monetary provision needed to maintain in this world. If employment is referred to as a job it is probably not a lifelong career or profession just a temporary way to maintain. Normally individuals will want a career suiting their giftings or talents making employment a pleasure instead of work. Job verses career. Employment can hinder and stretch depending on whether or not a person is designed for that particular position.

A job normally has a set ending point but not always a starting point. So with employment, there are always set tasks that have to be completed for an individual. I think that employment of anykid can give someone direction over how to spend thier hours of the day. If you notice people who do not work, there are often many "wasted" hours of nothingness due to nothing needed to be done.

$ = value. therefore valuations of social humans are based upon the duality of time spent earning or creating value and actual quantities accruing to jobbers. Since all dollars are equal there is no qualitative value which attaches itself to these assessments; it's pretty strictly a numbers game. the worth of a human is determined solely by his or her net worth and other modes of evaluation are generally considered to be unreliable and untrustworthy, and they are treated with skepticism.

A "job" has two purposes: to provide the employee with means to survive and to add -- directly or indirectly -- to the community and economy.
